CHICAGO – In her final collegiate home match, senior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.) recorded a double-double of a match-best 17 kills and 12 digs as the Chicago State volleyball team battled visiting Valparaiso on Senior Night at the Jacoby Dickens Center before dropping a 3-1 decision (22-25, 22-25, 25-19, 14-25).
The Crusaders hiked their season record to 19-12 with the win and the Cougars fell to 2-27 on the year.
Freshman Emily Kramolisch (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill.) recorded 35 assists and a match-leading three service aces, while senior Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Harare, Zimbabwe) added eight kills and junior Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.) tallied seven kills with a match-best seven blocks. Sophomore Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) finished the match with 24 digs.
Leading Valpo on the evening was junior Mary Dent (14 kills), senior Jenny Pokorny (40 assists, 11 digs) and junior Taylor Root (26 digs).
Mason and Maziveyi joined fellow senior Kaila Dockery (Chicago, IL/Thornwood) (Chicago, Ill.) in being honored during a pre-match senior night ceremony.
The Green and White conclude the regular season this Saturday with its Great West Conference finale at NJIT with the first serve for 1 p.m.
