Volleyball Drops 3-0 Decision to Western Illinois at Home

Alexandra Mason tallied a match-best 14 kills and a .480 hitting clip versus Western Illinois

CHICAGO – Chicago State volleyball began the home stretch of its 2011 schedule Tuesday night with a 3-0 (24-26, 19-25, 23-25) non-conference defeat to visiting Western Illinois at the Jacoby Dickens Center. The Fighting Leathernecks improved their season record to 12-15, while the Cougars dropped to 1-25 on the year.

The Green and White were led by senior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.), who recorded match highs of 14 kills and a .480 hitting percentage, and junior Rachel Levitt (Willow Springs, Ill./Lyons Township) (Willow Springs, Ill.) contributed 12 kills and junior Sydney Van Munster (Hudsonville, Mich./Portland) (Hudsonville, Mich.) produced a match-leading three blocks.  

Freshman Emily Kramolisch (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) (Bolingbrook, Ill.) dished out a match-best 36 assists, sophomore Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) tallied 18 digs, and freshman Angelica Brewer (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded three service aces for the Cougars.

Heather Smith and sophomore Sarah Fetter led WIU with 11 kills and 35 assists, respectively. 

CSU travels to Texas for a two-match Great West Conference road swing beginning Thursday night at Houston Baptist with a start time of 7 p.m.
