OREM, Utah – Senior Courtney Waldon (Sun Prairie, WI/Sun Prairie) (Sun Prairie, Wis.) led six Chicago State women's basketball players in double figures as the visiting Cougars coasted to an 84-57 victory over host Utah Valley in a Great West Conference contest this evening at the UCCU Center.
The Cougars improve their season record to 13-8 (5-0) and the Wolverines dropped to 2-17 (0-4) on the year.
Waldon scored a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field and went 3-of-5 from three-point range while posting five rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead the Green and White, who scored 50 second-half points to build on a 34-23 halftime lead.
Senior Tressa Beckel (Waseca, Minn./Wisconsin) (Waseca, Minn.) added 17 points and six rebounds, while junior Natalie Marlowe (South Milwaukee, WI/South Milwaukee) (South Milwaukee, Wis.) contributed 11 points with a game-high six assists and three steals. Senior Elana Wroten (Chicago, IL/Morgan Park) (Chicago, Ill.) scored 10 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds, and senior Caila Desroches (Long Island, NY/Monroe CC) (Long Island, N.Y.) posted 10 points and four steals.
Utah Valley was led by junior Jenna Johnson, who scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while sophomore Sammie Jensen recorded 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field with six rebounds.
The Cougars continue their weekend West Coast swing this Saturday afternoon as they will head to the state of Washington for a non-conference rematch at Seattle with the start time set for 5:30 p.m., central time.
