CHICAGO – The Chicago State volleyball began a Great West Conference road swing through the Dakotas tonight with a 3-0 (7-25, 18-25, 10-25) defeat to Great West Conference leader North Dakota in Grand Forks, N.D. The Fighting Sioux hiked their season record to 20-5 (9-0) and the Cougars fell to 0-29 (0-10) on the year.
Leading the Green and White was junior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.), who recorded six kills and a match-high four block assists. Freshman Anna Morgan (South Range, WI/Maple-Northwestern) (South Range, Wis.) contributed eight assists, seven digs and three block assists, while junior Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Durham, N.C.) added six digs.
Erin Joki produced a match-high .667 hitting clip with a match-best 14 kills on 21 errorless swings to lead North Dakota. Annika Smed and Devin Trefz each posted 10 kills, while Ellen Krueger produced a match-leading 35 assists and Erica Turner recorded 12 digs on the evening.
The Cougars travel to Vermillion, S.D., for their final road match of the season tomorrow evening with a Great West Conference battle against South Dakota beginning at 7 p.m.
