Volleyball Falls to Horizon League leader Butler in Three Sets

Senior Hanya Minta posted a double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs versus Butler

CHICAGO – Senior Hanya Minta (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Eden Prairie, Minn.) produced a double-double of 17 assists and 10 digs as the Chicago State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (11-25, 14-25, 12-25) non-conference decision to Horizon League-leading Butler this evening at the Jacoby Dickens Center.

 

The Bulldogs hiked their overall record to 17-5 and the Cougars dropped to 0-27 on the season.

 

Freshman Mysta Townsell (Gardnerville, Nev./Douglas) (Gardnerville, Nev.) also recorded 10 digs, while fellow freshman Valeria Desiderio (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) (Chicago Heights, Ill.) contributed nine kills. Junior Leslie Williams (Phenlan, CA/Lake Land College) (Phelan, Calif.) tallied eight digs, freshman Anna Morgan (South Range, WI/Maple-Northwestern) (South Range, Wis.) posted six kills on the day and sophomore Rashonda Woods (Chicago, IL/Simeon) (Chicago, Ill.) had notched a career-best four kills.

 

Senior Jessica Wolfe led Butler with a double-double of a match-best 15 kills and 14 digs, and junior Katie Daprile posted a match-high 15 digs and two service aces. Sophomore Gina Vera dished out a match-leading 24 assists, while freshman Claire Randich produced nine kills and two block assists.

 

CSU is back in action at the Jacoby Dickens Center on Monday, Nov. 1 with a non-conference match versus Western Illinois beginning at 7 p.m.
