EDINBURG, Texas – Chicago State volleyball concluded its four-match road swing here today with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-9) defeat at the hands of Texas-Pan American in a Great West Conference battle at the UTPA Fieldhouse. The Broncs hiked their record to 6-15 (3-4) and the Cougars dropped to 0-22 (0-7) on the year.
Freshman Anna Morgan (South Range, WI/Maple-Northwestern) (South Range, Wis.) led the Green and White with 15 assists and junior Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Durham, N.C.) posted 10 digs in the match. Junior Alexandra Mason (Beaverton, OR/Harper College) (Beaverton, Ore.) recorded six kills, while freshman Valeria Desiderio (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) (Chicago Heights, Ill.) notched five kills and five digs.
UTPA was led by senior Marci Logan's match-leading 12 kills in addition to her recording eight digs. Sophomore Sarah Davis and senior Meghan Fichtel each contributed seven kills, and senior Rita Gonzalez posted a match-best 19 assists. Defensively, senior Kaitlin Vasquez posted match high honors with 14 digs for the Broncs.
CSU kicks off a three-match homestand on Tuesday night with a local non-conference match against DePaul with the first serve set for 7 p.m.
