Indiana State Posts Three-Set Win over Chicago State

Chicago State volleyball opened a four-match homestand tonight at the Jacoby Dickens Center with a 3-0 loss (25-13, 25-14, 25-18) to visiting Indiana State. The Sycamores hiked their season record to 5-8 on the year and the Cougars fell to 0-16 on the year.

CSU was led by redshirt junior Shamara Clark (Bloomington, IN/South) (Bloomington, Ind.) as she produced a team-best seven kills. Junior Chy Crichton (The Dalles, OR/Mt. Hood CC) (The Dalles, Ore.) produced 16 assists and five digs, while freshman Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Durham, N.C.) posted a .400 hitting percentage with five kills and contributed a season-best eight digs. Sophomore Hope Lockett (St. Paul, MN/Central) (St. Paul, Minn.) added eight digs, four kills and a season-high three service aces.

Junior Sarah Agnich led Indiana State with a match-best 13 kills and junior Jodi Stoker produced eight kills. Junior Whitney Fromm tallied a match-high 23 assists, freshman Shelbi Fouty added 13 assists and senior Kristy Cox notched a match-best 15 digs for the Sycamores.

Chicago State is idle until Oct. 3-4 when it hosts Quinnipiac, Providence and SIU Edwardsville for the CSU Cougar Invitational at the Dickens Center.
