CHICAGO (Nov. 14, 2008) – Sophomore Andrea Balsis recorded 11 kills in leading Valparaiso to a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-12, 25-21) over Chicago State tonight at the Jacoby Dickens Center. The Crusaders improve to 22-6 on the year, while the Cougars close the year at 0-29.
CSU was guided by freshman Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Durham, N.C.) with six kills, while junior Chy Crichton (The Dalles, OR/Mt. Hood CC) (The Dalles, Ore.) tallied 17 assists and eight digs. Redshirt junior Shamara Clark (Bloomington, IN/South) (Bloomington, Ind.) added five kills and sophomore Hanya Minta (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Eden Prairie, Minn.) recorded four kills.
Sophomore Katie Layman added 10 kills and a match-high seven blocks for Valpo. Freshman Jenny Pokorny contributed 34 assists and senior Brittany Malicoat posted a match-best 11 digs for the Crusaders.
