Bryant Posts 3-0 Victory Over Chicago State Volleyball

Hanya Minta recorded six kills Friday evening at Bryant

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Freshman Maria Scocca tallied a match-high 12 kills in leading host Bryant to a three-set win over visiting Chicago State tonight at the Chace Center in Smithfield, R.I. The Bulldogs hiked their record to 15-13 on the year and the Cougars saw their season record fall to 0-25.

Sophomore Hanya Minta (Eden Prairie, MN/Eden Prairie) (Eden Prairie, Minn.) led Chicago State with six kills, while junior Jean Keenan (/) (Braidwood, Ill.) added five kills. Junior Chy Crichton (The Dalles, OR/Mt. Hood CC) (The Dalles, Ore.) added 11 assists, redshirt junior Shamara Clark (Bloomington, IN/South) (Bloomington, Ind.) tallied a season-high three service aces and junior Niena Posey (Chicago, IL/Lincoln College) (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a match-best four blocks. Freshman Mazvita Maziveyi (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hillside (NC)) (Durham, N.C.) posted nine digs with three kills and two blocks.

Freshman Jasmin Stoner contributed 10 kills and senior Monika Sattler posted a .500 hitting clip for Bryant. Senior Maureen Atkins posted a match-high 14 assists, while junior Julie Geonetti produced a match-best five service aces. Senior Delia Glover recorded a match-high 21 digs to lead the Bulldog defense.

The Cougars continue their weekend trek through Rhode Island tomorrow with a match at Providence with the first serve set for 2 p.m.
