CSU Men’s Basketball Signs Four in Late Signing Period

CHICAGO – Chicago State University head men's basketball coach Tracy Dildy and his staff announced today the recent signing of four student-athletes to National Letters of Intent during the NCAA's Late Signing Period. All four individuals will be eligible to compete for the Green and White for the 2015-16 basketball season.

Joining the Cougars this fall will be junior college transfers Elliot Cole (Chicago, Ill.), Jordan Madrid-Andrews (Denver, Colo.) and Marcelo Ruediguer (Natal, Brazil), and freshman Delundre Dixon (Rockford, Ill.).

"With the addition of these four young men along with the guys we're returning next year, I think that we could do something really special. This team definitely has the makings of the 2013-13 Great West Conference tournament championship team and we're really excited about that," stated Dildy.

Elliot Cole
5-9 – Guard
Chicago, Ill./Powerhouse/Gulf Coast State College

Averaged 12.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game during his sophomore season at Gulf Coast State… connected on 36 percent (57-of-160) of his three-point attempts and shot 78 percent (39-of-50) from the free throw line… produced 14 double figure scoring games during the season… captured First Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team honors from the Panhandle Conference after producing 17.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game in 2013-14… led the state of Illinois in scoring as a senior at Ford Powerhouse High School with an average of 34.1 points per game.

Dildy on Cole: "Elliot Cole is a name that a lot of people from the area and community will remember after being the leading scorer in the state two years ago at Powerhouse High School. He can also excite people because he puts you in the mind of (CSU All-Time Leading Scorer) David Holston, a guy that's in a small frame, but really can do a lot of things and score baskets in multiple ways. This is a guy that can remind you of David by putting up numbers night after night. He brings the type of attitude and confidence and the ability to score the ball that you need to be successful in the WAC. We're really excited about having Elliot come back home."

Delundre Dixon
6-3 – Guard
Rockford, Ill./Auburn

Helped lead Auburn to a 29-2 season record, the Northern Illinois Conference (NIC-10) championship and the IHSA Class 4A Rockford Guilford regional title during his senior season… posted averages of 10.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game… earned special mention all-NIC 10 honors… scored 15 points against Larkin in the Class 4A DeKalb sectional semifinals… tallied 19 points and six rebounds while shooting 7-of-7 from the field versus Proviso West… played for the NIC 10 team in the Senior Rising Stars All-Star Classic.

Dildy on Dixon: "Dixon is a versatile guy that comes from the Rockford area which is a strong basketball community. He is 6-3 that's physically ready for the college game, can play multiple positions for us and brings more toughness to our team. He's a guy that we're going to have for four years that will constantly get better and already has a high basketball IQ."

Jordan Madrid-Andrews
6-8 – Center
Denver, Colo./Lee Academy/Umpqua Community College

Recorded averages of 12 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game this past season at Umpqua… earned first team all-conference and all-defensive team accolades from the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC)… ranked third in the NWAC for rebounds and eighth in blocks… had nine double-doubles and posted three games with 20 rebounds or more on the year… tallied a pair of 20-20 games against Southwest Oregon Community College (28 points, 21 rebounds) and College of the Siskiyous (21 rebounds, 20 points)

Dildy on Madrid-Andrews: "He's going to be a crowd favorite because he plays so hard (on both ends of the floor). He's athletic and a guy that runs up the court like a deer. Jordan is what we consider a true four and a legit 6-7 so that give us some more height. He's a guy that takes a lot of pride in rebounding and blocking shots, and will serve as another rim protector for us."

Marcelo Ruediguer
6-10 – Center
Natal, Brazil/Lee Academy/College of Eastern Utah

Ruediguer played in all 29 games and started 19 times during his sophomore season at College of Eastern Utah… played at Monmouth (N.J.) as a freshman during 2013-14 season… prepped at Lee Academy in Maine for two years.

Dildy on Ruediguer:  "What Marcelo brings to us is a true low-post guy. We hadn't had one of those since we've been here. He's a legit 6-foot-10 and 265 pounds that is all muscle. A guy gives us a post presence with his physical ability where he's going to let them know that it's not going to be easy going into the paint. He comes in with a chip on his shoulder about protecting the paint and he can score around the basket when we throw the ball to him down low."
