Chicago State volleyball closed the Holiday Inn Express Panther Challenge at Eastern Illinois today as it dropped a pair of matches to in-state teams. The Cougars fell to the host Panthers, 3-0 (25-19, 25-26, 25-21) in their first contest of the day and lost a three-set decision (25-12,25-14, 25-14) in their tournament finale to Western Illinois.

Freshman Amber DeWeerdt recorded a match-best 12 kills as Toledo captured a 3-0 victory over Chicago State Friday afternoon in the first match of the Holiday Inn Express Panther Challenge at Lantz Arena on the campus of Eastern Illinois. The Rockets improve to 1-3 with the win and the loss drop the Cougars to 0-5 on the year.

Chicago State cross country kicked off its 2008 schedule Friday afternoon by earning a pair of seventh-place finishes at the DePaul Cross Country Opener, held at the Channel Runne Park in Lincolnwood, Ill.
