Men’s Basketball Adds Sean Montgomery for 2010-11 Season

Chicago State Basketball has announced the addition of former T.F. North standout Sean Montgomery for 2010-11 season

CHICAGO – Chicago State University (CSU) Men's Basketball and first-year head coach Tracy Dildy announced the recent addition of local prep star Sean Montgomery (Calumet City, IL/T.F. North) (Calumet City, Ill.) to the program beginning this upcoming season.

A 6-6, 225-pound power forward, Montgomery, who will have four years of eligibility starting in August, is the first newcomer signed under Dildy for the signing class of 2010. He comes to CSU after completing his high school career at T.F. North High School in Calumet City, Ill., last year.

“Bringing in a kid of Sean's caliber to Chicago State shows the direction that the program is heading. He comes from a good program (at T.F. North) and received good coaching from Tim Bankston,” Dildy stated. “He brings in toughness, versatility and a winning attitude to this program. We plan on bringing in more players like Sean to CSU in the future.”

Montgomery produced averages of 18 points and 12 rebounds in leading T.F. North to a 19-8 record and captured the IHSA Class 4A Richards Regional championship this past season. He earned all-state honors from the Chicago Sun-Times (Second Team – Class 4A), Chicago Tribune (Honorable Mention) and the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (Third Team – Class 3A/4A) in addition to garnering All-South Suburban Blue Conference accolades following his senior campaign.

Montgomery recorded some big double-double efforts in the second half of the 2009-10 season that included two such efforts against South Suburban Conference foe Crete-Monee. In the first game, he produced 23 points and 11 rebounds, and later tallied 21 points and 12 boards in the second game. He also posted 24 points, 11 boards and two blocks versus Thornton, while recording four blocks against Hillcrest and four steals against New Trier at the 2009 Proviso West Holiday Tournament.

The Cougars will announce more additions to the team for the upcoming season at a later date.
