Krystal Collins was named assistant director for student success on October 2, 2023.

Collins comes to CSU after spending the previous five years at Northern Illinois University, first as assistant director of compliance (2018-20) and later as academic advisor in the college of health and human sciences (2020-23). Among the responsibilities in her initial role at NIU, Collins was the NCAA Compliance Coordinator for the Eligibility Center, while also serving as the compliance liaison to various campus constituents. 

In her most recent role, Collins serviced more than 300 students in academic success and graduation outcomes, using technology to create positive student outcomes. Collins worked directly with incoming students in ensuring the smooth transition into the collegiate space.

Prior to her role in Dekalb, Collins served two years as director of athletics compliance and student-athlete services at the University of Evansville (2016-18), coordinating the daily operations in ensuring adherence to all university, conference and NCAA regulations. 

Collins began her compliance career at Bethune-Cookman University, first as a graduate assistant (2013-15) and later as compliance intern (2015-16). She was instrumental in developing and executing a comprehensive continuing rules education program for student-athletes, coaches, staff and administration on conference and university guidelines. 

Collins earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Southern University – Baton Rouge, a Master of Science degree in transformative leadership from Bethune-Cookman University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in higher education from Northern Illinois University.
