Kadine Johnson-Crowder was named associate head coach for men’s and women’s track and field at Chicago State on March 18, 2024. In her role with the Cougars, Johnson-Crowder oversees the Cougars throwing events along with some additional disciplines.
Johnson-Crowder comes to CSU after three years at Penn State Harrisburg where she was just the second head coach in program history for men's and women's track & field and cross country. Her abbreviated 2021 indoor season culminated with a pair of New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Championships, as Tatyana Gibson claimed the 800m crown and Sammi Aromin won 5,000m gold. Both garnered NJAC All-Conference First-Team accolades for their efforts. Gibson also earned U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor All-Region honors in the 800m. The outdoor campaign included even more success, as Gibson (800m) and Kyli Moon-Rumsey (heptathlon) secured USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region recognition. Gibson was named the NJAC Outdoor Rookie of the Year after winning a conference championship in the 1,500m and clinching silver in the 800m. Aromin also won an NJAC Title in the 10,000m and finished as the runner-up in the 5,000m as well. Moon-Rumsey (heptathlon) and Starr Williams (triple jump) also earned second-place finishes in their respective events. In total, the foursome combined for six NJAC Outdoor All-Conference honors. In her final meet at PTH, Leah Gray finished first in the 60m and Stephanie Reider earned medalist honors in the weight throw at the 2024 United East Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Prior to her time at Penn State Harrisburg, Johnson-Crowder served as an assistant coach in charge of throws at Division II Wayne State for two-plus seasons. Prior to joining the WSU staff, she served as an assistant at Division III Amherst in 2018-19 after coaching throws at Division I Louisiana Tech for three seasons. She was an assistant on the Texas Pan-American (UTPA) staff for two years following a two-year stint as a volunteer assistant at Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) from 2011 to 2013.
As an athlete, she competed internationally for Jamaica and earned the runner-up spot in the hammer throw at the 2011 World Championship Trials, nearly qualifying for the Olympics as the country's third-ranked thrower. Johnson-Crowder was a standout collegiate athlete as well, starring at Albany. While there, she set program records in the hammer throw (outdoor) and weight throw (indoor) and won a pair of America East Conference Championships in the events during her senior campaign.
Johnson-Crowder also oversaw Penn State Harrisburg's Student-Athlete Wellness. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Albany in 2011 and her Mental Health Specialist Psychology Certification from Louisiana before earning a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Grambling State in 2018.
