Professor Alvin M. Daniels was appointed as the Chicago State University Athletics Program’s Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR) by University President Z Scott in September, 2024.
In the position, Prof. Daniels plays a crucial role in maintaining academic integrity and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience. He reports directly to President Scott and serves as the university and athletic program liaison to the NCAA, ensuring compliance with NCAA regulations while advocating for the academic and personal success of Chicago State’s student-athletes. Daniels works closely with CSU Athletics leadership, including the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator and Senior Compliance Administrator, to ensure that the University’s athletics programs operate within the highest standards of institutional control and student support.
Prof. Daniels brings more than 35 years of experience in media production, education, and mentorship, including more than a decade serving as a full-time senior lecturer in Chicago State’s Communications, Media, Arts, and Theater Department. His commitment to student success is evident through his leadership in overseeing student-produced television content at CSU-TV and his extensive background in media education at other institutions, including National Louis University and the Illinois Media School. Prof. Daniels is also a published author, Emmy-nominated producer and executive producer of numerous groundbreaking media projects.
Prof. Daniels holds a Master’s degree in Management from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Boston University. His work in media and education has earned him numerous accolades, including an Emmy nomination for his work with PBS.
