Tonishea Mack

Tonishea Mack heads into her second season as an assistant coach for Chicago State women’s basketball and also serves as the team’s recruiting coordinator. She first joined the Green and White in November 2016.

Mack, a native of Park Forest, Ill., came to CSU after serving as the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for two seasons at NAIA member Governors State in south suburban University Park, Ill. She helped the Lady Jaguars make a smooth transition into the NAIA ranks during the 2015-16 season which included gaining membership into the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).

Before entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Mack was an assistant coach at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Ill., to where she assisted in creating game schedules, travel iteneraries and setting up practices. She helped the Spartans advance deep in the Illinois High School Association Class 4A state tournaments in her two seasons by winning the championship in 2012-13 and placing third in 2013-14.

Mack had good preparation prior to starting her coaching career as she was a two-year captain at Grambling State University. She led the Lady Tigers in scoring (9.8 ppg) and field-goal percentage (.486) during the 2011-12 season in addition to ranking in the top 10 among the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) leaders for scoring and rebounding (6.2 rpg). Mack was the recipient of the team’s Marine Corporation, Honor, Courage and Commitment Award following the season. Before playing at Grambling, Mack captured Honorable Mention NJCAA All-America, NJCAA All-Region IX and WCCAC Player of the Year honors at Sheridan College after averaging 12 points per game.

Mack received her bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology from Grambling State in 2012. She is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
