Robert Jan

Robert Jan, a Class "A" member of the PGA of America, is in his first season as head coach for the Chicago State men’s golf program and brings more than 20 years of coaching and teaching experience to the Cougars.
 
A native of Northbrook, Ill., Jan comes to the Green and White after spending two seasons as the men’s and Women’s golf head coach at Ashford University, an NAIA school located in Iowa. While at Ashford, Jan guided the men's team to a top 25 NAIA ranking early in his second season. The Ashford men's team also produced seven Academic All-Americans during Jan's tenure as well as attaining the award of the highest GPA in all of NAIA with a 3.87.
 
Prior to Ashford, Jan served as the head men’s golf coach at the College of Lake County, whom he guided to the 2013 Skyway Conference Championship and tutored two golfers to qualify for the NJCAA National Championship. Jan most recently directed both the men’s and women’s golf program at NCAA Division III Knox College in downstate Galesburg, Ill.
 
Jan has also served as the golf operations director and head golf coach at EDGE Performance Golf in his hometown of Northbrook since 2010, where he and his staff have provided the necessary on-and-off the course training for aspiring young golfers.
 
Jan is a 1992 graduate of Millikin University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in physical education. As a member of the Big Blue golf team, Jan claimed the Collegiate Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) title and two NCAA D-III All-America honors in addition to being named to the Millikin Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003. Coach Jan is also recognized as one of the finest Illinois PGA Club playing professionals as a Radix Cup Team Member six times and also captured the IPGA Club Professional championship.
 
He currently resides in Northbrook with his wife Gayle, son Nicholas and daughter Grace.
