Women's Tennis Shows Tremendous Battle Against Indiana

CHICAGO, Ill. - Chicago State University (0-11) fell to Indiana University (8-2) 4-0 on Friday. The Cougars managed to tie three singles matches but could not secure a win.

Indiana secured the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Elisabeth Dunac and Chase Boyer clinched a 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles against Mackenzie King and Nikita Liyanage. Meanwhile, Magda Swierczynska and Nicole Sifuentes earned a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. The match at No. 1 doubles between Ale Teodosescu, Hi'ilani Williams and Karolina Skowronska, Camila Sanchez was tied at 4-3 when it was left unfinished.

In singles play, Indiana extended its lead with a sequence of straight-set wins. At No. 2 singles, Dunac defeated Camila Sanchez 6-4, 3-0 which went unfinished. Williams followed with a 6-6, 1-0 unfinished match at No. 3 singles over King. Li Hsin Lin added another point for Indiana at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win against Liyanage.

Skowronska provided a bright spot for the Cougars, capturing the No. 1 singles match 7-5, 6-2 against Teodosescu, however the match went unfinished after Indiana clinched the match. However, Indiana's Swierczynska closed out the singles matches with a 6-1, 6-4 decision over Danina Hughes at No. 5 singles. The No. 6 singles match was not completed, leaving the outcome undecided.
