Women's Basketball Secures Second Conference Win Defeating Le Moyne College

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Chicago State (3-16, 2-4 NEC) defeated Le Moyne (5-14, 3-3 NEC), 61-55, at Ted Grant Court, aided by nine blocks and 19 points off turnovers.
 
The game commenced with Chicago State taking an early advantage as Paris Bass scored a layup within the first minute. Chloe Sisco contributed a three-pointer, assisted by Brianna Hill. Despite their efforts, Chicago State had a slow start, making only four of 17 field goal attempts early on, and faced challenges against Le Moyne's defensive rebounding.
 
A pivotal moment occurred when Brianna Hill's three-pointer gave Chicago State a brief lead at 7:04. Hill, who recorded a season-high 12 total points. However, Le Moyne's consistent scoring in the paint allowed them to regain control. The quarter concluded with Chicago State trailing 14–10 after a late layup by Kyara Champagne reduced the deficit. 
 
Chicago State shifted momentum with a defensive surge, capitalizing on turnovers to outscore Le Moyne 15–6 in the second quarter. Key plays included Keona McGee's fast-break layup following a steal at 8:09 and Chloe Sisco's 3-pointer assisted by Brianna Hill at 4:34. The Cougars then took the lead with a late scoring run, highlighted by Kyara Champagne's layup and a Marisa Gant's jumper, ended the period with the Cougars leading 25–20.
 
Chicago State enhanced its lead in the third quarter with a strong start, highlighted by Keona McGee's fast-break layup at 8:47 that pushed the score to 29-21. McGee contributed a pivotal steal and layup to maintain momentum. Chicago State continued to extend their advantage with Kyara Champagne layup and a three pointer from Chloe Sisco, increasing the gap to 42-31. Tania Allen closed the quarter with a layup, sealing a 23-18 advantage for the period. The score stood at 48-38 heading into the final frame.
 
In the final quarter, Chicago State maintained composure to secure a narrow victory over Le Moyne. Key defensive stops, including six blocks, and timely scoring were crucial as Tania Allen's layup at 5:54, assisted by Keona McGee, bolstered their lead. Kyara Champagne's 3-pointer at 4:06, assisted by Chloe Sisco, further extended the lead. Le Moyne's late rally brought the score within striking distance, but Chicago State's free-throw shooting in the final seconds, with Allen and Brianna Hill converting crucial points, ensured the win. The game ended with Chicago State prevailing 61–55. With the win, Chicago State now improves to 2-4 in NEC play.

Tania Allen recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while also contributing five blocks and two steals. McGee scored 11 points and collected 10 rebounds, adding three steals to her performance. Sisco made three 3-pointers, finishing with nine points and two assists. Brianna Hill led the Cougars with 12 points, shooting 50%, along with grabbing five rebounds.
