Kewadin, Mich. (August 31, 2025) — The Chicago State women's golf team opened its 2025–26 season with a promising showing on Day One of the A-Ga-Ming Invitational, hosted by Central Michigan at the A-Ga-Ming Golf Resort. The Cougars sit in
eighth place after 36 holes in the 13-team field, highlighted by steady play and key scoring stretches throughout the day.
Chicago State impressed on the short holes, finishing the day
second overall in par-3 scoring at just +8, trailing only tournament leader Bowling Green. The Cougars also proved disciplined across the course, ranking
third in bogey avoidance with just 55 on the scorecard as a team.
Individually,
Maria led the lineup with six birdies across her two rounds while also finishing under par on the par-5s (4.88 average), placing her among the event's top performers on the longer holes.
Almudena Agüera added five birdies and continued to give the Cougars consistent scoring.
Begona Perez turned in one of the best par-3 averages of the field at +1, while
Aarushi Bhanot and
Gia Lamba rounded out the scoring lineup with steady contributions that helped keep Chicago State competitive in its season debut.
The Cougars will look to climb the leaderboard on Monday as they wrap up play in the final round of the tournament.
