Chicago State Falls to Bradley in Non-Conference Matchup

PEORIA, Ill. — Chicago State (1-8) fell to Bradley (5-4) 85-57, at Renaissance Coliseum, despite a 46-52 rebounding effort. Bradley's 10 three-pointers and 19 second-chance points proved decisive in the matchup.

The game began with the Cougars taking an early lead as Natalia Williams hit a three-pointer. Bradley responded sinking consecutive three-pointers, to shift the momentum. Keona McGee helped close the gap for Chicago State by scoring a fast-break layup at 1:53. The quarter ended with Bradley holding a narrow 18-16 advantage.

Bradley extended its lead over the Cougars in the second quarter. A Braves three-pointer at 3:22 and securing multiple rebounds. Despite efforts from CSU, including a basket by Marisa Gant with 1:22 remaining, Bradley's defense maintained control. The home team closed the quarter with a comfortable 39-22 lead at the halftime break.

The Bradley maintained their lead throughout the third quarter, outscoring Chicago State 27-19. The Cougars had a great series of baskets, including a tip-in by Natalia Williams at 8:13. The period concluded with Bradley sinking two free throws at the 24-second mark, further adding to the Braves lead.

In the fourth quarter, a three-pointer at 9:44 set the tone for Bradley in the fourth quarter, pushing their lead further. Another three-pointer extended Bradley's advantage to 74-41. CSU's Kayla Mount responded with a jumper at 7:49, but Bradley maintained control with steady scoring. Marisa Gant scored the final basket for the Cougars as time expired, concluding a quarter where Bradley outscored the visitors 19-16, securing an 85-57 victory.

Chicago State was led by Keona McGee with 12 points and four rebounds. Kayla Mount continues to add double digit scoring games with her second in three games adding 11 points of her own, and almost secured a double-double with nine rebounds. Marisa Gant added eight points and four rebounds
