Career Night for Culver Gives Cougars Win

Aiyanna Culver scored a career-high 33 points

CHICAGO - Chicago State (2-19, 2-4 NEC) secured a hard-fought victory over Central Connecticut State, 84-77, in a thrilling game at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center. The game was highlighted by a stellar performance from Aiyanna Culver, who delivered a career-high 33 points, leading the Cougars to their second win of the season.

Culver showcased her offensive versatility, shooting 10-for-18 from the field, 2-for-3 from beyond the arc, and an impressive 11-for-13 from the free-throw line. Her scoring barrage included critical baskets in clutch moments, propelling Chicago State to maintain their lead for the entire game. The Cougars also benefited from a strong contribution off the bench, which added 29 points to the total.

In all the Cougars had three players in double figures including 14 points off the bench from Tania Allen, just one shy of her season high set against Wagner.

Chicago State dominated in points off turnovers (20) and points in the paint (38), demonstrating their aggressive approach on both ends of the floor. The team's collective effort and Culver's standout performance were key factors in the win.

Culver's 33 points is the most for a Cougar since teammate Ja'Cia Cunningham scored 37 points against Evansville in an overtime contest during the 2023-24 season.

Belle Lanpher added a 28 points for Central Connecticut State while teammate Meghan Kenefick added 12 boards.
