Chicago State Falls in Second Consecutive OT Contest to LeMoyne

Culver Led Cougars with 18 points

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Chicago State (1-18, 1-3 NEC) delivered one of their most determined performances of the season but fell just short in a 77-71 overtime loss to Le Moyne on the road at Ted Grant Court in Syracuse, NY. The Cougars set the tone early, jumping out to a 13-point lead in the first quarter behind strong defense and efficient offense. Aiyanna Culver led the way with 18 points, while Josie Hill added 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 steals. Their aggressive play generated 27 points off turnovers and a 24-10 advantage in the paint, putting the Cougars in control early.

Le Moyne battled back in the second quarter, fueled by sharp three-point shooting (7-of-9 from beyond the arc). Despite the surge, Chicago State entered halftime with a narrow 33-31 lead, showcasing resilience and strong contributions from their bench, including Tania Allen's timely scoring. In the third quarter, the Cougars reestablished momentum, extending their lead to double digits through transition baskets and relentless effort on both ends of the court.

The fourth quarter brought high drama as Le Moyne's Sierra Linnin, who finished with a game-high 28 points, spearheaded a comeback. Her seven three-pointers, including crucial late-game shots, proved difficult for Chicago State to counter. With the score tied at 62 at the end of regulation, the game headed to overtime. The Cougars continued to battle but were unable to match Le Moyne's composure and timely execution in the extra frame, as the Dolphins outscored Chicago State 15-9 to claim victory.
