Three Cougars Score in Double Figures in Win Against Hartford

Box Score The Chicago State women's basketball team faced off against the Hartford Hawks and won 79-60. Today's win marks the most a Cougars women's basketball team has won, five, since the 2011-12 team won six. Josie Hill (16), Ahlea Myers (17) and Tae'Lor Willard (14) all finished in double figures.


First Quarter - Hartford 16, Chicago State 14
- The Hawks jumped out to an early 5-0 lead which stunned the Cougars early
- A free throw from Cunningham cut the run, however, the Hawks continued scoring and went up 8-1
- The Cougars suddenly erupted with an 8-0 run featuring buckets from Cunningham, Myers, and Hacklika to now lead 9-8
- Both teams then went on to score back-and-forth which led to a minimal two point lead for the Hawks to finish the first quarter at 16-14

Second Quarter - Chicago State 39, Hartford 31
- Chicago State came out hot as they started off with a 6-0 run with a free throw from Cunningham, a jumper from Hill, and a trey from Myers which gifted them a 20-16 lead
- The Hawks managed to cut the run with a three, nonetheless the Cougars bounced right back with an 8-0 run with treys from Hacklika and Myers along with a deuce from Hill to reach a 28-19 lead
- Both teams once again ensued on a back-and-forth scoring trend which resulted in the Cougars remaining on top at the half with a score of 39-31

Third Quarter - Chicago State 58, Hartford 43
- The Cougars came out hot once again and executed a 4-0 run with deuces from Hill and Myers to go up 43-31
- The Hawks retaliated with a 4-0 run of their own which ensued yet another back-and-forth scoring run which led to a 49-40 lead for the Cougars
- Suddenly, the Cougars went on a 9-0 run featuring buckets from Willard, Segues, Hill, and Norris to increase their lead to 58-40
- The Hawks then managed to salvage a trey, yet were down 15 heading into the fourth at 58-43

Fourth Quarter - Chicago State
- The Hawks surprisingly opened up the scoring this time with a trey to reach a 46-58 score
- However, the Cougars quickly bounced back with a 7-0 run with a jumper from Cunningham, along with a deuce and a trey from Myers to maintain their lead at 65-46
- Much like in the other quarters, the final minuted consisted of scoring on both sides however the Cougars managed to remain atop and took the win with a final score of 79-60.

The Cougars will face off against the Hartford Hawks once again tomorrow back at the JCC at 1 PM.
