CSU Closes Road Swing with 3-0 Loss at Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE – Chicago State closed out its six-game road swing after host Milwaukee captured a 3-0 victory today at Henry Aaron Stadium.

UWM took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning as Zach Nogalski hit a two-out triple to right field and scored on the next play via an RBI single from Jack Thelen.

In the fifth inning, Devin Rybacki lined a leadoff triple that went down the right field line before crossing home plate on an RBI sacrifice fly to right field by Trevor Schwecke that increased the home team's advantage to 2-0.

Mitch Buban opened the seventh inning with a walk and scored three plays later on a Cougar fielding error to end the scoring.

Chicago State was led at the plate by junior Daulton Ryans (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) as he batted 2-for-4, while junior Tyler Lowe (Northville, Mich./Northville) and senior Matt Paciello (Wellington, Fla./Park Vista) each hit 1-for-3.

Freshman starting pitcher Blake Kaplan (Las Vegas, Nev./Sierra Vista) took the loss after allowing two runs on 10 hits in six innings of work while posting four strikeouts and walked one batter. Fellow freshman Dylan Cumming (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) threw a scoreless effort for the Green and White in the eighth inning while giving up a hit.
