Women’s Basketball Closes Regular Season with Senior Day at Home

CHICAGO – Chicago State closed out its regular season schedule here today at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center with a 59-47 defeat to visiting UMKC in a Western Athletic Conference women's basketball battle.
 
Prior to the game, the Green and White honored guards Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) and Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) in a special Senior Day ceremony.
 
Johnson led CSU with 14 points for the contest and set a new career high for rebounds with seven, while freshman Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) added 13 points.
 
Redshirt sophomore Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) also had a big game for the Cougars as she finished with game highs of 10 rebounds and five blocked shots to go along with nine points, three assists and three steals.
 
Aries Washington tallied a game-high 18 points and Daijane Dillard tied for game high honors with 10 rebounds to lead UMKC
 
Next up for Chicago State is the WAC Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Wednesday, March 7 as the eighth-seeded Cougars will battle the tournament's top seed New Mexico State in a quarterfinal showdown on ESPN 3 with a start time of 8 p.m., central time.
