OPENING TIP: Chicago State women's basketball hits the road to Utah to open its last Western Athletic Conference road swing of the season as it takes on host conference rival Utah Valley in a Thursday afternoon showdown at Lockhart Arena in a live WAC Digital Network broadcast with a start time of 12 Noon.

SCOUTING CSU: CSU opens its last road swing ready to rebound from its short homestand last week at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center where it fell to CSU Bakersfield (63-36) and Grand Canyon (59-43). Leading the Green and White is freshman guard Tyeshia Bowers (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) as she is now averaging 12.3 points and 2.4 assists per game, while redshirt senior guard Phylicia Johnson (Columbus, Ohio/Pickerington Central) ranks second on the team in scoring (10.7 ppg) and assists (2.2 apg). Redshirt sophomore forward Ines Mata Boix (Madrid, Spain) leads the Cougars with averages of 8.2 points, 1.8 blocked shots and 1.6 steals per game in addition to scoring 9.1 points a game.

SCOUTING UVU: Utah Valley enters this week's action sporting a season record of 9-13 and holds a 3-4 mark against conference teams after dropping a close battle in the final seconds at Lockhart Arena last Saturday to Seattle by a score of 77-75. Senior guard Taylor Christensen is averaging 15.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game while shooting 43 percent from the field and three-point range. Fellow senior guard Mariah Seals is dishing out a team-leading 4.4 assists a game and is second in scoring at 13.6 points per contest.

SERIES HISTORY: Thursday's game in Orem serves as the 25th lifetime meeting on the court between Chicago State and Utah Valley with the Wolverines holding by a 15-9 margin. UVU posted a 68-30 victory in the teams' first meeting at the Jones Convocation Center in Chicago on Jan. 13.

WAC LEADER: Mata Boix leads the WAC in offensive rebounds (3.2) per game for overall contests and is now tied with New Mexico State's Brooke Salas for blocked shots (2.0) per game in league play while ranking second in rebounds and third in blocked shots per game for all games played.

WAC TOURNEY TICKETS ON SALE: Tickets for the 2018 WAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas are now on sale. The tournament starts on Wednesday, March 7 with the women's first round of play, followed by a full day of men's action on Thursday, March 8. MOVIN' ON UP: Redshirt senior guard Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) has drained 186 career three-pointers as a Cougar following last week's homestand after passing former CSU standout Alyssa Waldon (2006-10) for second place on the school's career list in that category.
