CSU Women’s Golf Takes Seventh at Butler Fall Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS – Chicago State women's golf finished the Butler Fall Invitational here today at the Highland Golf and Country Club by taking a seventh-place finish with a two-round score of 652 (323-329).
 
With their score, the Green and White finished ahead of three teams that included a couple of NCAA Division I schools in St. Francis (Pa.) (eighth) and Delaware State (ninth). The host Bulldogs posted a score of 610 (304-306) to win the team title and were led individually by medalist Lauren Tibbets as she recorded a score of 141 (72-69).
 
CSU was paced by senior Felicia Davenport (Columbus, Ohio/Westerville South), who carded a 36-hole score of 160 (82-78) and tied for 17th place individually in addition to draining 18 par putts.
 
Sophomore Darinka Velazquez (Puerto Vallarta, Mexico/British American School) finished in a tie for 19th place after scoring a 161, while freshman Na'Kia Smith (Winnetka, Calif./Calabasas) tied for 21st place when she recorded a 162 (78-84).
 
Sophomores Hansika Tathgur (Brampton, Ont./David Suzuki Secondary) and Adriana Gonzalez (McAllen, Texas/McAllen Memorial) also competed in the tournament for the Cougars.
 
Chicago State is back in action on Oct. 8-9 as it hosts the annual Chi-Town Classic at Harborside International Golf Course.
