OPENING TIP – The Chicago State women's basketball team concludes its two-game homestand on Wednesday night when it takes on Western Michigan at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center beginning at 7 p.m. in a live radio broadcast on WVON AM with Maya Akai and Faruq Bashir calling the action.

SCOUTING CSU – Chicago State looks to capture its first victory of the 2016-17 season as its holds a season record of 0-11 following a close 54-50 defeat to Western Illinois on Saturday with sophomore guard/forward Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) tallying 18 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Allen leads the Cougars with averages of 13.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest, while redshirt junior guard Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) is averaging 8.8 points a game. Senior guard Cailin Nix (Martinsville, Ind./Martinsville) is producing 7.3 points and a team-high 1.7 steals per game, and junior guard Destiny Harris (Crete, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) is grabbing an average of 5.6 boards a game.

SCOUTING WMU – Western Michigan heads to the Windy City sporting a season record of 8-2 and is currently on a seven-game winning streak after posting an 83-64 victory over Bradley at home last Saturday. The Broncos currently have three players scoring double figure averages with redshirt junior center Marley Hill leading the way with 16 points and 1.2 blocked shots per game. Sophomore forward Breanna Mobley is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points a game while grabbing a team-leading nine rebounds per contest, and senior guard Meredith Shipman is averaging 11.6 points a game for WMU. Sophomore guard Deja Wimby is the team leader in assists (6.1 apg) and steals (2.5 spg).

SERIES HISTORY – WMU holds a 12-3 leading margin in the all-time series with the Green and White which includes wins in the last four meetings and a three-game winning streak in Chicago. The Broncos captured a close 65-56 win over the Cougars in Kalamazoo last season which Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) led three CSU players in double figures with 16 points.

COUGARS ON WVON – The WMU contest will be the first of three contests this season that will be broadcast on WVON. CSU will also have a pair of WAC home game broadcast on Jan. 14 against Seattle U and Jan. 21 versus the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with both games starting at 2 p.m.

DOUBLE VISION – The Cougars have had three players to average double figure scoring over the last five games in Cerda (13.6 ppg), Allen (13.4 ppg) and Nix (10.8 ppg).

SUCH THIEVERY – CSU has turned into some crafty thieves on the court over its last five contests by posting an average of 9.6 steals per game with Nix recording two steals per contest during this stretch that included tallying a career-best six steals last Saturday game versus Western Illinois.

UP NEXT – The Green and White return to action on Dec. 28 with a road contest at Cincinnati beginning at 6 p.m.
