Cerda Notches Pair of Career Highs for CSU at Utah Valley

Jessica Cerda tallied a pair of career highs Saturday at Utah Valley with 16 points and three assists for CSU

OREM, Utah – Redshirt sophomore Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) notched a pair of career highs for the Chicago State women's basketball team during its 74-46 Western Athletic Conference defeat to host Utah Valley at the UCCU Center Saturday afternoon.

Cerda scored 16 points, which included hitting four three-pointers, and dished out three assists in her first starting assignment of the season for the Cougars (2-18, 0-6).

Freshman Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) tallied a game-high five steals to go along with scoring 11 points and grabbing a team-leading seven rebounds, while fellow freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) also recorded five steals and four blocked shots.

Senior Jasmine Wood (Lansing, Mich./Lansing Waverly) produced career highs of six rebounds and four blocks, and junior Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) equaled a career high when she dished out five assists for CSU.

The Wolverines (9-11, 2-3), who had four players score in double figures in the contest, were led by Rebecca MaWhinney's double-double of a game-high 15 rebounds and 11 points.

The Green and White return to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center to open a three-game homestand on Jan. 30 against Missouri-Kansas City with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
