CSU Falls to Grand Canyon in WAC Road Battle

PHOENIX – Chicago State women's basketball opened a Western Athletic Conference weekend road swing out west Thursday night with a 74-36 defeat to host Grand Canyon here at the GCU Arena.
 
The Cougars were paced by freshman Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods), who scored a team-leading 11 points while adding eight rebounds and two assists. Fellow freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds and posted three blocked shots to earn game-high honors.
 
Jessica Gajewski led three GCU players in double figures as she scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 6-of-10 from three-point range.
 
CSU closes out its road swing on Saturday afternoon in Orem, Utah with a WAC contest against Utah Valley with the opening tip set for 2 p.m., Mountain Time.
