Box Score Chicago State struggled at both ends of the court, as Grand Canyon beat the Cougars 73-49 at the GCU Arena Thursday.
Grand Canyon (12-13, 6-6 WAC) built their lead in the first half with strong shooting from the perimeter, hitting eight first-half three-pointers. While the Cougars (4-22, 1-11 WAC) were held to only 29.2 percent shooting from the field.
GCU went on a 7-0 run in the middle of the first half to turn an 8-7 lead into a 15-7 advantage. At 18-12 with 8:29 left in the half, GCU went on an 18-4 spurt to take a 20-point lead, 36-16. To start the second half, CSU was down by 16 points. The Cougars trailed by as much as 26 points, down 62-36, a lead GCU would never relinquish.Â
Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) led the way for the Cougars with 10 points.
Tashuna Brown (New York, N.Y/Randolph) also contributed 9 points to the team effort.
The final regular-season away game is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday (Feb 28) against Utah Valley. Â
