OPENING TIP – Chicago State women's basketball travels downstate to Normal, Ill., for a Monday night battle on ESPN 3 against host Illinois State with a start time of 7 p.m. The game will serve as the final contest for the Green and White before Christmas.

SCOUTING CSU – The Cougars come into Monday's contest with a season record of 2-9 and have split their last two contests following Saturday afternoon's 74-51 loss to Oakland at the Jones Convocation Center. Senior forward Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) leads Chicago State with 12.5 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, while freshman guard/forward Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) is second on the team with 11.5 points per contest. Freshman forward/center Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) is second in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and steals (1.5 spg) in addition to producing a team-high 1.8 blocked shots per game, and senior guard Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) is dishing out a team-best 2.2 assists per game for the Green and White.

SCOUTING ISU – Illinois State has posted a 1-8 season record heading into Monday night's battle with CSU and looks to break a seven-game losing streak dating back to Nov. 23 which included a 60-47 loss at Yale last Wednesday night. Freshman guard Shakeela Fowler leads ISU with 12.1 points, 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals per game, while senior forward Octavia Crump is averaging 11.8 points and 0.8 blocked shots a game in addition to shooting a team-best 53 percent from the field. Senior guard Vina Livingston is grabbing a team-leading 6.6 rebounds per game for the Redbirds. 

SERIES HISTORY – Monday's game marks the third lifetime meeting on the hardwood between Illinois State and Chicago State. The Redbirds won the last game between the two teams on Nov. 26, 2006 with an 81-53 victory at Redbird Arena.

GUNNING FOR THAT #1 SPOT – Murphy continues her ascent upwards on CSU's career record book as she is currently second in rebounds (702) and third in blocked shots (104) on CSU's career record book. She is now eight rebounds and 22 blocks shy of becoming the school record holder in both categories.

UP NEXT - CSU closes out the calendar year 2015 at the Jones Convocation Center with a Dec. 30 home game on the WAC Digital Network against Northern Illinois with a start time of 7 p.m.
