CHICAGO – Senior Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) tallied her third double-double of the young season as the Chicago State women's basketball team dropped an 88-42 decision to No. 19 DePaul Tuesday night at McGrath-Phillips Arena to close out a three-game road swing.
 
Murphy scored 14 points while shooting 6-of-12 from the field and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to lead CSU (0-5).
 
The Blue Demons (4-1) opened with a 22-9 lead after the first quarter and held a 43-21 advantage at halftime and cruised to the win.
 
Freshman Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) added seven points, five rebounds and a season-best three assists, and redshirt sophomore Jessica Cerda (Streamwood, Ill./Streamwood) scored six points for the Green and White.
 
DePaul was paced by Megan Podkowa's game-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Jessica January posted a double-double of 14 points and a game-leading 10 assists.
 
Chicago State returns to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center this Saturday afternoon to open a three-game homestand against Morehead State with the opening tip set for 2 p.m.
