Women’s Basketball Drops 65-56 Decision at Western Michigan

Senior Jasmine Sanders tallied a career-high 16 points for CSU in Wednesday night's road battle at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Chicago State women's basketball team dropped a 65-56 decision to host Western Michigan on Wednesday night to kick off its three-game road swing.
 
Both teams battled in the first half with the Broncos capturing a slim 26-23 halftime lead, but WMU posted a 25-10 advantage in the third quarter to increase its leading margin to 51-33. The Green and White made a furious comeback in the final quarter by outscoring the home team, 23-14, to provide the final margin.
 
Senior Jasmine Sanders (Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest) led three players that scored in double figures for CSU (0-3) as she tallied a career-high 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field and went 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Sanders also added five assists, five rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.
 
Freshman Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) contributed 13 points, a season-best eight rebounds and two steals, and junior Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) recorded a season-high
 
Western Michigan (2-1) was led by Jessica Jessing, who tied Sanders for game high scoring honors with 16 points and grabbed a game-leading nine rebounds.
 
CSU continues its road swing this Saturday night in Macomb, Ill., as it plays Western Illinois with a start time of 7 p.m.
