OPENING TIP – The Chicago State women's basketball team welcomes UIC to the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Monday in its home opener with a start time of 7 p.m. The game will be streamed online on CSU TV.

SCOUTING CSU – CSU heads into its home-opening game after dropping a 69-37 decision Friday evening on the road to Illinois at Parkland College. The Green and White held a 5-2 advantage in blocked shots for the game. Senior forward Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) tallied a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds versus the Fighting Illini. Freshmen Kaylee Allen (Cincinnati, Ohio/Winton Woods) and Sh'Toya Sanders (Fort Wayne, Ind./Wayne) played well in their first-ever collegiate game for CSU by contributing 14 points and nine rebounds, respectively.

SCOUTING UIC – UIC comes to the South Side after posting a dominating 75-48 home win over Howard Friday afternoon in its season opener at the UIC Pavilion. The Flames had three players score in double figures, led by redshirt junior guard Kendyl Nunn (20 points) and redshirt senior forward Ruvanna Campbell (19 points, 14 rebounds). Campbell was named Preseason Horizon League Player of the Year after averaging 17.7 points, 14.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game last season en route to being named HL Defensive Player of the Year.

SERIES HISTORY – UIC has produced a 19-5 advantage in the all-time series with Chicago State that has included five consecutive victories. The Flames posted a 70-44 win in the team's last meeting at the UIC Pavilion on Dec. 16, 2014 and were led by Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney)' 12 points and two steals.

GUNNING FOR THAT #1 SPOT – Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) heads into Monday's game ranked third in blocked shots (91) and eighth in rebounds (614) on CSU's career record book. She is 35 blocks and 91 rebounds shy of becoming the school record holder in both categories.

UP NEXT - The Cougars open a three-game road swing on Wednesday evening at Western Michigan in an ESPN 3 broadcast that will tip-off at 7 p.m., Eastern Time.
