Box Score CHICAGO - The women's basketball team (1-8) falls to its crosstown rival Tuesday night with a 70-44 road loss to UIC (8-1). The Cougars started off shakey committing two turnovers in the first two possessions of the game. The team quickly got on track and battled with UIC the entire first half due to their sharp shooting from long range making 5 of their 7 attempts (71.4%). The Cougars trailed at halftime 33-28.
The Cougars were not able to get their offense going in the second half as UIC held them to two field goals and 16 points. UIC's victory is the fifth straight over the Cougars.
Ruvanna Campbell led the Flames with 26 points, 18 rebounds, and two steals. Konner Harris (Sidney, Ohio/Sidney) led the Cougars with 12 points and 2 steals. Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) added to the effort with eight points and 6 rebounds.
The team continues their road trip as they travel to play Bradley on Thursday December 18th and the University of Milwaukee on Sunday December 21st.
