Women's Hoops Falls In GWC Play At Utah Valley 71-38

OREM, Utah – Chicago State women's hoops will have to wait for another day before earning their first Great West Conference win of the season as Utah Valley defeated the Cougars 71-38 on Saturday (Jan. 12) afternoon at the UCCU Center.
 
Sammie Jensen led Utah Valley with a game-high 22 points. She helped the Wolverines jump out to a 17-point lead at 31-14 with 6:08 remaining in the first half. Sophomore Jackie Jones (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) (Detroit, Mich./Martin Luther King) followed with a jumper and sophomore Jasmine Collins (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) (Richton Park, Ill./Rich South) scored four straight to cut the deficit to 31-20 just two minutes later. It would be as close as Chicago State would get.
 
Utah Valley made 45.6 percent of their field goal attempts and limited Chicago State to 25.4 percent shooting.

The win moves the all-time series record between the two schools to 8-6, in favor of Chicago State.
 
Jones and sophomore Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) each scored 12 points for Chicago State.
 
The Cougars fall to 1-16 (0-1 GWC) while the Wolverines improve to 7-11 (2-0 GWC). Chicago State returns to non-conference play on Thursday (Jan. 17) with a visit by Nebraska Omaha at 7:00 p.m.
