Loyola Takes Women's Basketball Contest Over Chicago State 81-43

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's basketball fell 81-43 in a Saturday (Dec. 22) matinée at Loyola Chciago in the Cougars' final contest before Christmas.
 
Loyola opened a 40-18 lead at halftime thanks to shooting 50 percent (17-of-34) in the opening half. Of the 40 points for the Ramblers, 24 came in the paint. It was a 12-9 Loyola advantage in the first half when the Ramblers pulled away due to an 18-2 run.
 
Loyola's Simone Law led all scorers with 20 points. Sophomore Tierra Williams (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) (Detroit, Mich./Lathrup) scored 11 points for the Cougars. Freshman Layne Murphy (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) (Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central) grabbed nine rebounds, one short of her career-best.
 
Chicago State falls to 1-11. Loyola improves to 4-6. The Cougars take an extended break before returning to the court on Saturday, Dec. 29 against Southern Illinois. The contest with the Salukis is set for 2 p.m. at the Jones Convocation Center.
