Women’s Golf Finishes Third at Great West Championship with Three Golfers Earning All-Conference Honors

CHICAGO – Chicago State women's golf closed out its 2010-11 campaign Wednesday afternoon with a third-place finish at the third-annual Great West Conference Championship hosted by Houston Baptist in Spring, Texas.

The Cougars produced a three-round score of 977, including a 319 in the second round, in addition to capturing wins over conference foes North Dakota (fourth), Utah Valley (fifth) and South Dakota (sixth). Houston Baptist shot a team score of 939 to win the GWC title, led by medalist Kelsey Lou-Hing's total of 229. 

CSU also had three golfers earn second-team all-conference accolades in redshirt senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.), and sophomores Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.) and Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico).

Lee finished in a tie for sixth place after carding a 241 for the tournament. She shot a season-low 74 in the second round in addition to producing six birdies and 26 pars in her final collegiate competition. 

Rosado tallied a tournament-leading six birdies and shot a four-over-par on par three holes en route to carding a 244 (83-82-79) to finish ninth while shooting even par on par five.  

After recording one of the tournament's two eagles in the second round, Flores placed 10th after recording a score of 245 (84-78-83) and shot a six-over-par on par five holes. 

Junior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tempe, Ariz.) shot four-over-par on par five holes and posted 26 pars to finish tied for 14th place with a score of 252 (85-85-82), while freshman Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) carded a score of 257 (89-85-83) to round out the scoring and finish in a tie for 20th place.
