EVANSTON, Ill. – Sophomore Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico) tallied a third-place finish individually to lead the Chicago State women's golf team to finish fourth at the Loyola Inviatational, held at the Evanston Golf Club in Evanston, Ill.
The Cougars produced a two-round score of 664 in the tournament while posting wins over Eastern Illinois (fifth), SIU Edwardsville (sixth), Green Bay (seventh), Valparaiso (eighth) and IPFW (ninth).
Western Illinois claimed the team title by shooting a score of 626 to edge the host Ramblers by three strokes, while Loyola's Ann Vrdolyak won medalist honors after recording a score of 151 and defeated WIU's Claire Gursh in a playoff.
Flores paced the Green and White by shooting a 154, including a season-low 75 in the first round, while producing a tournament-best two eagles with three birdies and 19 pars. She shot four-under on par five scoring holes.
Junior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tempe, Ariz.) recorded 24 pars and shot even on par three scoring en route to placing in a tie for ninth place with a score of 159, while redshirt senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.) finished 14th after carding a 161 (78-83) and tallied 20 pars.
Sophomore Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.) recorded a score of 167 (84-83) to finish in a tie for 24th place, and freshman Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) rounded out the scoring with a 180 (91-89) to finish in 43rd place.
As an individual, junior Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.) recorded a score of 181 (89-92) to place 44th in the tournament.
CSU travels to Ohio this weekend to compete in the Bowling Green Invitational for its final tune-up for the Great West Conference Championship.
