Cougars Place Sixth at NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate

Sophomore Andrea Rosado finshed in a tie for 15th place in CSU's spring opener at the NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate

CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's golf team kicked off its spring schedule on March 17-18 by placing sixth in the 25th-annual NIU Snowbird Intercollegiate, held at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in Tampa, Fla.

 

The Cougars recorded a two-round score of 647 while finishing ahead of five other squads, including the host Huskies and Great West Conference foe Utah Valley. Saint Leo won the team title after producing a score of 608, led by individual medalist Heather Petronis' score of 144.

 

Sophomore Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.) led CSU by shooting a 158 that included posting a 76 in the first round to finish tied for 15th place, while redshirt senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.) placed 24th in the meet with a score of 160 (82-78).

 

Junior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tempe, Ariz.) carded a 163 (83-80) to finish in tied for 27th place, and sophomore Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico) tied for 38th place after tallying a score of 166 (85-81).

 

Rounding out the scoring for CSU was junior Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.), who shot a 180 (88-92). Freshman Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) shot a 179 (91-88) as an individual to finish 54th.

 

CSU returns to action on April 4-5 with the IPFW Spring Invitational in Fort Wayne, Ind.
