CHICAGO – The Chicago State women's golf earned its second straight top-five finish of the fall season by recording a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the annual NIU Huskie Classic, held in DeKalb, Ill.
CSU carded a two-round score of 670 in addition to defeating fellow Division I schools Creighton, NIU, North Dakota, South Dakota, UIC and IPFW. SIU Edwardsville posted a score of 646 to win the team title and Lindsay Lammers of Detroit won medalist honors with a score of 154.
Senior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) led the Green and White in the tournament by shooting a score of 167 (84-83) to finish in 19th place, while junior Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) tied for 20th place after carding a score of 168 (87-81).
Junior Brooke Melvin (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) recorded a score of 169 (83-86) to finish tied for 23rd place, fellow junior Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) tied for 26th place with a score of 170 (89-81), and sophomore Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) finished the tournament with a score of 173 (91-82) to tie for 34th place.
Senior Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) and junior Vivian Garciaferro (Puebla, Mexico/Puebla) competed as individuals for CSU.
The Cougars return to action at the Western Illinois Autumn Invitational in Macomb, Ill., on Oct. 9-10.
