Women’s Golf Produces Fifth-Place Finish at SIUE

Sophomore Andrea Rosado paced CSU at the SIUE Intercollegiate with an 11th-place finish after shooting a 163

CHICAGO – Sophomore Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.) posted an 11th-place finish in leading the Chicago State women's golf team to place fifth at the SIUE Intercollegiate Invitational, held on Sept. 27-28 at the Sunset Hills Country Club in downstate Edwardsville, Ill.

 

The Cougars recorded a two-round team score of 679 while finishing ahead of Evansville (sixth), Lipscomb (seventh), IPFW (eighth) and NCAA Division II Christian Brothers (ninth).

 

Rosado paced the Green and White with a score of 163 for the tournament while shooting her best round so far during the fall season with an 80 in the final round.

 

Redshirt senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.) carded a score of 164 to finish in 12 th place after recording back-to-back rounds of 82 which included posting four birdies and shot even on Par 5 holes, while junior Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.) tied for 13th place as an individual with a score of 165 (82-83) and tallied 18 pars during the tournament.

 

Junior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tucson, Ariz.) finished in a five-way tie for 21 st place after shooting a 170 (83-87), while sophomore Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico) placed in a tie for 41 st after carding a score of 183 (91-92).

 

Freshman Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) rounded out the scoring for the Cougars by posting a score of 195 (101-94) to finish in a tie for 50th place.

 

Western Illinois earned the team title after recording a score of 632 to edge runner-up Austin Peay by eight strokes. APSU's Chelsea Harris recorded a two-day score of 149 which included shooting a 72 in the final round to capture medalist honors.

 

The Cougars host the Windy City Quadrangular at Lost Marsh Golf Course in Hammond, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 2 where they will take on Valparaiso, Green Bay and NAIA member Bethel College.
