CHICAGO – Chicago State women's golf closed out its fall season today by finishing in third place at the 26th Annual NIU Huskie Classic, held at the Whisper Creek Golf Course in Huntley, Ill.
The Green and White tallied a two-round score of 621 to edge fourth-place Western Illinois and Loyola by one stroke. CSU also finished ahead of eight more teams, including SIU Edwardsville, Creighton, IPFW, and fellow Great West Conference schools North Dakota and South Dakota.
Brown, led by medalist Carly Arison, recorded a team score of 611 to win the team title, edging host Northern Illinois by three strokes. Arison shot back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish with a 150 to finish first in the individual standings.
Junior Brianna Hickman (Tucson, Ariz./Tucson) (Tempe, Ariz.) paced the Cougars by carding a 154, including a 75 in the first round, to finish in a four-way tie for ninth place in addition to draining six birdies over the tournament.
Redshirt senior Esther Lee (Irvine, CA/Santiago Canyon College) (Irvine, Calif.) placed in a tie for 17th place after posting a 156 (76-80) and shot the tournament's lone eagle putt in the first round.
Sophomore Andrea Rosado (Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico/American Heritage School) (Ponce, P.R.) and junior Brittany Johnson (Golden, Colo./Golden) (Golden, Colo.) both carded a score of 157 to finish in a six-way tie for 19th place. Rosado shot a 76 in the first round, while Johnson posted a 77 in the final round and shot 22 par putts.
Rounding out the scoring was sophomore Diana Flores (Torreon, Coah, Mexico/Instituto Alpes) (Torreon, Coah, Mexico), who finished with a two-round total of 160 to finish in a tie for 27th place and shot a 78 in the final round of play. Flores also drained 21 par putts for the tournament.
Freshman Jessica Peatross (Lansing, Mich./Holt) (Lansing, Mich.) finished in a tie for 53rd place as an individual after carding a two-round score of 170 (85-85).
