CHICAGO – Chicago State University volleyball head coach Brandon Reeves announced today the recent addition of junior college transfer Kirah Williams-Shephard to the program for the upcoming 2018 season and will have two seasons of eligibility beginning in late August.

"Kirah has a powerful swing and can hit a variety of angles. She will be an immediate offensive threat and a bully on the right side," stated Reeves. "We're eager to see her competitive nature on the court and utilize her strength along the net. Adding Kirah to a dynamic incoming class will bring our 2018 roster to a new level."

Standing at six-foot-two and playing opposite (right-side) hitter, Williams-Shephard will head to the Windy City after spending the last two seasons at Hillborough Community College, a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I institution located in Plant City, Fla.

Williams-Shephard earned First Team All-Suncoast Conference honors and was named to the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) State all-tournament team after averaging 2.99 kills per set and posted a hitting percentage of .301 for the Hawks last fall. She helped HCC finish with a 23-11 record and claimed second place in the Suncoast Conference.

Before competing at Hillsborough, Williams-Shephard was a two-time Most Valuable Player at L'Amoreaux Collegiate Institute after helping the school capture back-to-back Toronto Class AA city championships. She also played on the club circuit for the Toronto Diamonds for five seasons and was a four-time team MVP.

Williams-Shephard joins fellow newcomers Gabby Pearl (Farmer City, IL/Blue Ridge), Kayla Malec, Autumn DeSantis, Nicole Luckey and Beatriz Palmieri for the Cougars' preseason practice which begins in early August.
