Chicago State Women’s Soccer Signs Five to 2017 Recruiting Class

CHICAGO – First-year Chicago State University head women's soccer coach Kevin Meek has announced today the 2017 recruiting class which consists of five student-athletes that will join the team beginning in August for the upcoming fall season.
 
The newcomers coming to the Green and White are Ta'Miya Allen (Dayton, Ohio), Bailey McFarland (Lakeside, Calif.), Emily McGuire (Upland, Calif.), Samantha Noonan (Ottawa, Ontario) and Jensyn Stanberry (Grand Rapids, Mich.).
 
Ta'Miya Allen
5-3 - Forward/Defense
Dayton, Ohio (Trotwood Madison)
 
Claimed Honorable Mention All-GWOC honors for Trotwood Madison after recording 19 assists and scored seven goals… helped team capture its first state tournament victory in over 15 years… also lettered for two seasons in football as a kicker at TMHS.
 
Meek on Allen: "Ta'Miya is a high energy, versatile attacking player with an unbelievable nose for the goal and is a game changer. She'll bring a fierce competitiveness to training sessions and during games, and has the confidence and technical skill to challenge opponents on the dribble at any time. Her physical drive and mental toughness and her desire to win at the highest level make her an ideal addition to our soccer family."
 
 
Bailey McFarland
5-9 - Forward
Lakeside, Calif. (El Capitan)
 
Lettered for four seasons as a forward and goalkeeper at El Capitan, where she helped capture a league title and advance to the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) state tournament… played club soccer for the Albion SC team out of San Diego… also lettered for four years in track and football for a year at ECHS.
 
Meek on McFarland: "Bailey is a confident, powerful force in the middle of the field that will demand the other team's attention and disrupt any central attack. A highly recruited player from the west coast, she chose CSU because she wants to contribute immediately and compete for a Western Athletic Conference Championship. Bailey's work ethic, physicality and mental toughness will make an immediate impact (on our team). Her speed of play and technique will certainly surprise WAC opponents."
 
 
Emily McGuire
5-10 - Defense
Upland, Calif. (Bonita)
 
Four-year letterwinner at Bonita, where she was a starter in the Bearcats' defensive unit… helped team capture the San Dimas Tournament for four years… also competed for the Arsenal FC club team.
 
Meek on McGuire: "From the moment we watched Emily commit herself to a 50/50 challenge with the type of grit and determination we embody here at Chicago State, we knew we wanted her playing for the Cougars. We are very excited to welcome her to the CSU soccer family. She brings toughness, explosiveness and heart to the program, and we expect her to contribute as an outside defender immediately."
 
 
Samantha Noonan
5-8 - Defense
Ottawa, Ontario (Saint Francis Xavier)
 
Five-year letterwinner as a defender at Saint Francis Xavier… helped SFX capture three Queens University Tournament titles and another tournament title at the Coyote Classic… played club soccer for Ottawa South United, whom she helped win championships at the Newmarket and Ottawa Royals tournament… team also posted a quarterfinal appearance at the Disney ESPN Showcase… honor roll student at Xavier.
 
Meek on Noonan: "Samantha will immediately impact every game she plays with her poise on the ball and relentless, fearless nature on defense. We are very excited to add a player with her technical skill, speed of play and confident style to our back line. We believe she will make an immediate impact and help solidify a defensive unit with a chip on its shoulder and a fearless nature that will surprise opponents."
 
 
Jensyn Stanberry
5-5 - Forward/Midfield
Grand Haven, Mich./Fruitport HS
 
Earned First Team all-conference and all-district honors as a senior after setting Fruitport's single-season assists record (20)… also holds school record for most goals scored in game with six that was set as a junior, where she also received First Team all-conference recognition… helped FHS advanced to the district finals at the MHSAA Division 2 state tournament… played club soccer for the Fruitport Fury… older sister Jordyn is a senior defender at CSU.
 
Meek on Stanberry: "We're thrilled to welcome Jensyn to the Cougars soccer family. Jensyn is a quick and deceptive striker who will immediately provide a unique, creative component to our attack. She also continues the Stanberry legacy of loyalty, sacrifice and intensity (here at CSU) that will help us continue to build a culture of excellence and achievement."
