Western Athletic Conference Releases 2017-18 WBB Preseason Polls

DENVER – The Western Athletic Conference announced today the release of its coaches' and media preseason women's basketball polls for the upcoming 2017-18 season as part of its media day.

Chicago State was selected to finish eighth in both polls, while defending WAC champion New Mexico State was the unanimous pick to win the conference title after earning 13 combined first-place votes from both the coaches (six) and the media (seven).

The unanimous pick for Preseason WAC Player of the Year honors from the coaches and the media went to Alexis Montgomery of Seattle.

CSU Bakersfield was picked second in the coaches' poll with two first-place votes followed by Seattle in third, Utah Valley in fourth and Grand Canyon in fifth. UT Rio Grande Valley finished sixth and UMKC was selected seventh. UTRGV also took second in the media poll with GCU placing third and CSUB getting fourth. UMKC finished fifth followed by UVU in sixth and Seattle in seventh.

CSU opens the season at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center on Nov. 10 against Northwestern beginning at 7 p.m.
