CHICAGO – Chicago State baseball matched last season's regular season win total on Thursday (March 20) evening with a 7-5 victory over Holy Cross (Indiana) at Cougar Stadium. The win moves Chicago State to 8-8. This is the latest in a season the Cougars have been at the .500 mark since 2000.

Jordan Stroschein (Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar) recorded an RBI triple that sent home junior
Chase Matheson (McHenry, Ill./McHenry). Stroschein then scored on a single to center field by junior
Matt Schmidt (Dundee, Ill./Jacobs).
In the fifth, a lone Chicago State run made the score 6-4. Matheson doubled in junior
Mattingly Romanin (Burlington, ONT/Notre Dame) for the run. In the sixth, an RBI single by
Jared Patterson (Ventura, Calif./Buena) scored senior
Joelh Calixto (Chicago, Ill./Guerin).

Hall moved his record to 2-0. He allowed five runs (three earned) with four walks and three strikeouts. Holy Cross starter Jacob Lanning took the loss to move his record to 0-5.
Matheson and senior

"We keep preaching to the guys you need just one more run than they score," Chicago State head coach
Steve Joslyn said. "That's what we did today. Holy Cross and us both have a lot of new faces and I think we're both immensely improved."
Holy Cross falls to 3-16 on the season.
The Cougars host South Dakota State on Friday (March 21) in a doubleheader. The non-conference twin bill will start at noon at Cougar Stadium.
