Women’s Basketball Adds Five Players for 2012-13

CSU women's basketball head coach Angela Jackson announced today the addition of five newcomers for the 2012-13 season

CHICAGO – Chicago State University head women's basketball coach Angela Jackson announced today the addition of five players who will begin competing for the Cougars beginning in 2011-12, including three players that signed National Letters of Intent during the NCAA's Fall Signing Period in Nov. 2011.

Listed below is information on all 2012 signees for the Cougars:

Brittany Campbell
6-4 – C – Jr.
(Indianapolis, Ind./Old Dominion)

Transferred to CSU from Old Dominion after playing there for two seasons… posted averages of 14 points and 10 rebounds per game in her final prep season at Brebeuf Jesuit Prep School out of Indianapolis… served as team captain… also competed on Brebeuf Jesuit's track & field team throwing the shot put.


Nia-Tayler Clark
6-2 – G/F – Fr.
(Bowie, Md./Bowie HS)

Four-year letterwinner in basketball and track & field at Bowie… averaged 12 points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots this past season… helped Bowie capture the 2011 Maryland Class 4A County title in basketball and she was a Class 4A County champion in the 100-meter hurdles in 2011.


Layne Murphy
6-2 – F – Fr.
(Country Club Hills, Ill./Rich Central HS)

Concluded prep career by averaging 14 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots per game for Rich Central… helped RCHS finished third in the Southland Conference and capture the Illinois High School Association Class 3A Rich Central regional championship.


Jasmine Sanders
5-4 – G – Fr.
(Country Club Hills, Ill./Hillcrest HS)

Helped lead Hillcrest advance to the Illinois High School Association Class 3A state finals for the third consecutive season in 2011-12 and finished in third place… also guided Hillcrest to win the 2012 IHSA Class 3A Providence regional, Hillcrest sectional and Pontiac supersectional titles… recorded averages of 12 points, five assists and five steals per game during her senior season.


April Watson
6-2 – F – Fr.
(Detroit, Mich./University Prep HS)

Recorded averages of 16 points, 10 rebounds and four blocked shots per game as a senior at Detroit's University Prep… helped team capture a district title in 2010... named first team all-conference during her sophomore season.

The Cougars welcome back seven letterwinners and three starters from last season's squad which includes GWC All-Newcomer honoree Paris Williams (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonville) (St. Louis, Mo.).
